Getting prescription eyeglasses on the internet

Has anybody here purchased eyeglasses online?  I'm interested in such experiences and would welcome any recommendations as to provider.

It had been several years that I continued to wear the same glasses with no problem until February last year 2018 when I had a problem with the retina in one eye that required surgery to repair.  Since then I've been a regular customer of my ophthalmologist for follow-up of that surgery as well as for the surgery to correct the cataract that developed subsequently (a common sequela following a vitrectomy).  Not only have I become very familiar with the inner workings of my eyeball so too have I become reacquainted with the over-priced business of optical supplies.  I've needed to replace my glasses twice since the original surgery and am now looking to do so again (and then maybe again later in the year if another surgery is needed to correct another common type of sequela).  The reimbursement limits of the PSHCP have led me to seek a more cost effective alternative to the $400 - $500 that I've come to expect to pay for an adequate pair of specs from a brick and mortar optical outlet.

I did some through Zenni optical. Not too bad. You have to know a few details like your pupil distance, and temple width, but that might be on your prescription. For the temple width, you might find it on a receipt for a prior pair of glasses. That said, there's also Clearly.

I've used the chinese zennioptical. They deliver anywhere in the world.
I am not sure that clearly.ca and ca.eyebuydirect.com deliver outside Canada, but I'd liked their websites. They seem to provide the same customising tools as zennioptical. And also, with their discount for new customer's first buy, it can be awesome. I will very probably make a try.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions.  I've had a look at various sites and made price comparisons.  Zenni usually comes out as the least expensive, even after USD to CAD exchange.  On the sites with an apparent Canadian connection, like Clearly, while the price for frames may be highly discounted, the price for lenses will sometimes be not much different than what would be charged at a physical outlet.  So, I've pretty much made up my mind where I'll be sending my business.  Now I have to confirm my PD - the optometrist I saw for the Rx doesn't do it as part of the exam, says he doesn't have that piece of equipment in the office; one of the disadvantages of seeing a practitioner who is co-located with an optical outlet who only does that measurement when you buy from them (the provincial optometrist college doesn't require it as part of the service).

My optometrist included it with the prescription.
