Field manual for armed forces

The other day I was talking to a friend of mine from the States who used to be in the Navy. We were discussing possible ideas for a novel, and while discussing them, he told me I should look over the canadian field manual for armed forces personnel. He couldn't remember the title of it, though.

I was wondering if someone here might know which book he's referring to, and would it be possible to get a copy of it? Thanks.
