    Ukraine - Superthread

I think a part of what you're seeing is the propaganda war in action. The Lawyer come Mortar expert (The witch?) is one of many publicized situations (remember the Ghost of Kiev fight pilot?) The Ukrainians appear to be mastering the propaganda and social media battlespace. This makes things...

    RCN Carrier models

And here's the after workshop section as printed and fit to the ship. Still some work to do - I need a fresh jar of white paint to do some bulkheads, but this gives the general idea. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out!

4 layers of fiberglass resin and 1 layer of cloth later, and I now have the skegs almost done.

    Scope mount for SMLE

Hi KJK, The #1 MK 3 SMLE is a tough rifle to get a scope mounted on - they were built in an age when curves were cool on rifles. So, with your rifle already having the Charger Bridge removed, (the bar thing) that would make it easier to install a scope mount. That said, in one of the...

If they hit a sub....that's big news. Subs are rather particular in their maintenance requirements. Keeping water out of the people tube is only a part of the complexity.

    Ukraine - Superthread

Interesting. Everyone talks about '8km' advance being not much, and being so slow/slogging/etc. That new map shows about 15km now, and I think perhaps the 'slowly...slowly....quickly' may be arriving. Saw the info about a new line of trenches and dragons teeth obstacles being built in the SE...

    C3 Howitzer Replacement

The only 'worthwhile' conversion kit for a rifle platform is a .22 insert in my opinion and experience. Reduced template. Reduced recoil. Reduced cost. Reduced noise. Similar accuracy at reduced range when targets are scaled. Similar weapons handling drills so few if any training scars...

    Thinking about the Infantry Attack

Simple is very important. The execution is fairly easy. The 'hard' part is shaping the attack so that it comes from the direction I wish it to. :-)

    C3 Howitzer Replacement

Buy some HIMARS, design a module of the same size/shape/weight that can be used for training/logistics purposes, but only fires the 2.75" sub-caliber rockets. Like we used to do with the FN's and the .22 kit, or the LAW and the sub-cal rocket, or the...etc.

    Thinking about the Infantry Attack

As a CPO2, and having proven somewhat...versatile....they tend to give me some latitude now. As mentioned, setting something up so that the training goal is met for evaluation purposes, then adding something 'extra' into the mix is a good plan. I'm pondering this fall to see if I can pull...

    Thinking about the Infantry Attack

I've done poor OPFOR. I'm trying to do better OPFOR now. My first kick at the cat we were literally doing the 'almost in plain sight unrealistic threat' level. This year will be much better than the last few. We have plans. :) I agree - the attack plan must be flexible enough to deal with...

    Thinking about the Infantry Attack

I'll jump in on the OPFOR point above. Trg Coy from my unit has been the OPFOR for our unit's fall exercise (November-ish) for the past 2 years. Each time, as Trg Coy CSM, I've learned and improved. This fall's ex will be even better. A key factor from my perspective is that the OPFOR must...
