The low productivity of Canadian companies threatens our living standards

Of course I could play Devils Advocate of how much government and taxpayers pay to cleanup after many industries, who failed to ensure there were funds for such work.

9 out of 10 Jobs created in Canada in 2020-2021 were in the Public Sector

Yep, there is a small number of vocal FN's and that's mainly as the hereditary chiefs and Elder Councils don't get control of the revenue from the pipelines. I do get the concerns about habitat fragmentation from the FN impacted by drilling. But the companies are willing to adapt their practices...

    Ukraine - Superthread

I will argue that China is selling munitions they make that are a similar standard to what Russia sold them, not just old Russian gear. As for the proxy argument, I will argue that this not really a proxy war, as we have a nuclear power that directly attacked it's neighbour. That neighbours...

When Site C, LNGCanada and Coastal Gaslink finish up, it's going to be a trade job wasteland.

Simple solution, ban air travel next time, like all of it and back to ships to move people and quarantine stations.

Talking to a European about debris in the water and asks how big, so I hold my hands 2' apart. He says: "Oh sticks that size are no problem", I replied: "Umm that's how wide they are" , his eyes bugged out. Never sailed the East Coast is it ice or debris?

GBAD - The return of 'FOBS'

Russian EW was so effective at the beginning of the war, they had to shut it off as they disabled their side as well. Currently Russia is using more directed EW to target Ukrainian drones and either jam them or hijack them.

As I said before, form a AD Troop at each Reserve Arty unit, two sections each starting with a single/twin .50cal on a mount optimized for AA work. they can learn the basics of AD and the fieldcraft, while the military system slowly gets it's act together and provides them with more modern...

I think the Dragons teeth are mostly to stop the light armoured vehicle assaults. I suspect the Dragons teeth in key areas will be liberally sprinkled with AT and AP mines and overwatch.

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

If we had ships like the new Dutch/Belgium Mine Hunters, they would be excellent in gather data in the littoral area of the world.

Surface Effect Craft = Hovercraft with less parts to fix and more directional stability. Downsides are more exposed propulsion. Although in this case they went with waterjets which makes good sense.

Hydro foil's are very niche vessels and they never really got through all the issues, which is why you don't see many. I got to ride on a Soviet passenger one in 1970.

I go with 6, you have one on each coast in refit at any one time, leaving you with 1 on each coast to do coastal stuff and one for oversea's work. Actually a Batch 2 River Class and one of these would make a very useful packet for overseas work, the River Class can be the escort and provide...

Public service employment has grown by 31 per cent

The private sector is not exactly shining right now either. Lot's of very dumb decisions by management of mid to large sized firms that cost the businesses and employees a lot. Yet the owners and CEO's are making huge amount of monies while doing it.
