Victoria is facing a public-safety crisis

Oh I know that - surprised at how little CS bothered me my last run through the chamber, whereas there were a few youngsters that didn't tolerate it well, and in fact panicked. Mind you, I could see in there, so it wasn't that concentrated...and just said "Oh well, this'll suck a bit until I...

I've talked to a number of psychotic people that didn't believe they were...in fact, did a couple times today. Just Devil's advocate here, if you failed to show enough motivation to not be enrolled in a conscriptive Armed Force, what makes you think you'll show up with any in Recruit School for...

Victoria is facing a public-safety crisis

I remember covering a use of force course with OC spray in Haiti - the infanteers that were carrying had to get sprayed and man, those folks were turned into 6 month olds in a heartbeat. Funny thing - the locals got more worried if the spray can came out than if we pointed a gun at them...

A Mention in Dispatches was presented to Capt Hanly by the VCDS this week

Who I'm sure received their MSM in a fairly timely fashion as well... I'd hope they'd received something as well...other than good on you for doing your job. As for the doc, I'm going to put that into the "Things you don't know about people you work with" file - he'd pick up shifts at one of...

I see you were tested by the Norwegian Armed Forces...did you do military service there? I also see you have an interest in medicine...I think with all you've indicated here, you'll have issues with medical school - both getting in and staying there, since you've been kicked out of or placed on...

And now for something important - Soccer

Had the same discussion with someone a couple days ago - they were Bosnian Croat. Much the same thought from them. The HVK soldiers I worked with both scared me due to their bombastic/Ramboesque/reckless behaviour and made me laugh because if it started raining, they ran and hid. The Serb...

On the Toxicity of the ‘Warrior’ Ethos

People would be pastier in colour than Elon Musk...not a good look on film, as everyone, including spectators, would need sunglasses...or it would have to be filmed like a Kari Lake campaign ad...

Haitian leaders must all agree before Canada would lead a potential military intervention, Trudeau says

Funny you mention that - imagine the look on my face when the UN forces that did show up were from a who's who of 3rd world despotic nations with poor human rights records dealing with THEIR OWN CITIZENS...forget the fact I wandered in on a tour of PRC National Police that were there to teach...

Haitian leaders must all agree before Canada would lead a potential military intervention, Trudeau says

I seem to recall during my sojourn down there in 2004 that when the narcos were being handled by us (us being the Canadian, US, French and Chilean coalition forces), we were accused of being terrorists by the NDP's leader because a constituent's drug and gun running operation was being disrupted...

    Remembrance Day Stories

As you know, I'm an Alumnus/Old Boy. It wasn't lost on us during my Grade 12 year when they told us that the number of folks' names on those plaques was just a few shy of my entire class size. A few of our staff were Second World War vets - my first French teacher was RN Fleet Air Arm, our...

    Remembrance Day Stories

I worked today...was signing out to one of the docs and he says thank you after getting report, I said "No Worries, see you later"...but then he said "No, Thank You for what you used to do". Was very surprised to find I'd had significantly longer service than he'd first thought when he asked...

Ahhh, but the Brits didn't buy Oz or Kiwi guns...they bought our version of an American gun.

Well, if you're going to buy Colonial, might as well go with the Colony that kinda sorta stuck around...and the "C" in C8 could even stand for "Colonial" instead of "Canadian"

I did a little famil shoot on it in Afghanistan - Brits and us were sharing a range...thing kept jamming. Mind you, that was in 2003, still had that old piece of metal tube for a cocking handle instead of the ergonomic one and no rails for accessories so might have been an A1 variant.

Victoria is facing a public-safety crisis

Fraid not - work at Grace in the ED. I did do my psych rotation at HSC in Aug 2007 though...when the interview rooms were right in the Adult ED waiting room...where everyone got front row seats to the meltdowns upon involuntary admission.

Victoria is facing a public-safety crisis

I didn't go in to the office shooting from the hip - I re-read the act and in the Form 2 case, 12(1)(a)(iii) and (b) were applicable to even a casual observer, as were the accommodations they were renting...the main reason police were called was behaviour and the state of their motel room. You...

Victoria is facing a public-safety crisis

Have rewritten this a few times - I've had a few negative experiences with police and the MHA, but only in one place I worked, where it seemed to be a systemic thing. I suspect it was due to not wanting to tie people up in the ED babysitting without a piece of paper saying they needed to be...
