[Answered] Applying to multiple branches (Services)
« on: November 28, 2008, 01:58:51 »
Just something I noticed while going through the CF online application, you can't apply to multiple branches. If you choose that you'd "prefer to be in an Army uniform", (mind you, which uniform you want is a required question, there's no "Purple"), you can't apply for Imagery Tech or Boatswain (for instance) as they're in the Navy and the Air Force. Is that normal? I'm pretty sure on paper you can apply across elements :)

I would think that it's not a huge issue as most people apply for the trade first, not the element.  That being said, if one was not willing to wear anything other than the Navy/Army/Air uniform, then they'd be best off applying for a trade only offered in the element of their choice.
I'm sarcastic and have a smart-*** attitude.  It's a natural defence against drama, bullshit and stupidity.

You could apply for both if you want. When i joined i applied for combat engineer (army) and Naval weapons tech ( Navy). That beng said, you cant apply for Imagery Tech and ask for a Navy uniform.

If you're referring to the Online Application where you may only pick occupations from any one element..  What I did was choose Army and selected two occupations,  then when I went to hand in my application,  they filled in the third occupation choice by hand (Air Force).

Don't worry.  When you apply online, your file is sent to your closest CFRC.  You need to print off and bring in a hard copy when you visit the CFRC.  While you are at it you can bring in your original Birth Certificate, Proof of Citizenship, SIN card, Photo ID, and Transcripts if you have them; so that they can copy them.  While you are in there with your Hard Copy, you can clear up any problems you have with Trade choices.  The difficulty comes when someone selects an Officer Trade and a NCM Trade.  Make sure you prioritize which Trade you want first.  You have three choices, but do not have to use all three, if you only want one or two.
