Currently overseas, want to join.
« on: December 07, 2006, 21:31:23 »
I'm currently in Korea teaching English. I would like to apply when I get home (6,7,8 months). Is there anything I can do right now to make the process go quicker when I get back? Thanks in advance.

You can start by checking the recruitment web site, there is an on line application section:

I know I have heard this question before and know that it was answered by Kincanucks and many others.  Have you been here before?

You will have to look up the requirements for your Enhanced Security Checks, Residency Requirements, Medical Requirements, References, Education Transcripts, etc.

If possible find the forms that you will be required to fill out and familiarize yourself with them.  Start now documenting where you have lived for the last ten years.

There are some Recruiters on this site that can help with advice.

You are certainly welcome to apply on line but nothing and I mean nothing will be done with your application until you have returned to Canada.  In your search of this site make sure you pay attention to the pre-security/assessment threads as you could be in for a long wait because of it.  Just before you come back make sure you get a police and credit check done there and bring that paperwork in when you visit the CFRC/D.

I am currently living in Germany and have been since June 1st 2009. I will be returning to Canada at the end of November just short of the 6 month mark. From the links I read through, it seems since my stay in Europe doesn't exceed the 6 months mark that there should be no problems with the residency requirements, but I just want to make sure. Is this correct?

Another question, which, from what I read, shouldn't be a problem (though thought I'd ask anyway just to be sure) is on the issue of dual citizenship. I am Canadian-born and have resided in Canada my entire life (minus the last few months), but hold both a Canadian and an EU passport. Is this an issue in any way?

Duel citizenship is not a problem, I have duel citizenship (born in England) and I was able to join no problem.
